I feel extremely lucky to both live and practice veterinary medicine/surgery in South Orange County since 1999;I specialize in canine and feline medicine and surgery at Ortega Animal Care Center (OACC), San Juan Capistrano.

Now a little bit about my background.  I am the past recipient of the Iams and Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society's Award for Excellence in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.  I graduated from North Carolina College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999.  I have received formal training in some of the Nation's top veterinary institutions including: The Animal Medical Center, NY, NY, and The California Animal Hospital (training directly under Dr. S. Ettinger), LA, CA.

I am currently board eligible in canine and feline medicine with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP). This means that after a rigorous process by the ABVP board committee, that includes a critical review of how I work through my cases, I am now eligible to sit the final board exam this November in Chicago.  You can read more about it at ABVP.org  .

What I love most about practicing is the enjoyment I derive from building long-term relationships with my clients and patients as their primary veterinary emergency and general practitioner.   I have seen many puppies/kittens (and yes, a few snakes, ducks, pigs, goats, alpacas to name a few!) and emergency patients throughout the years.  As they (and I) have grown older, so too has my interest in keeping them healthy while they grow throughout the years, and ultimately with geriatric canine and feline medicine.  In addition, I have a great working relationship with many of the board-certified veterinary specialists in our area (and still keep close ties with some of the outstanding specialists I have trained under).  I do not hesitate to call on them or refer you to them if your pet's needs require a veterinary specialist (i.e. orthopedic surgeon, neurologist, cardiologist, etc.).

When I am not passionately practicing veterinary medicine I can be found in my garden or hiking with my dogs (while the cats linger inside in the air-conditioned house!), on a spin bike, down-dogging in vinyasa yoga, SUP, strength training, or traveling.

Something that most people do not know about me, I am a former contemporary and junior sportswear buyer.  I left the wonderful world of fashion to pursue my life-long dream of being a veterinarian and have never been happier.

I am looking forward to regularly sharing information on the San Juan Capistrano Patch with all of our pet owners, and to working together toward keeping all of our loving companions happy and healthy!  Please feel free to ask me questions that you may have about your cat or dog!
