5 Things: Another Winery for San Juan, How to Talk to Single Women and More

The most interesting way to start your day.

1. San Juan Capistrano IS the next Napa: Yet another winery wants to come to town. An outfit called Rancho Capistrano Winery has applied to operate a full production winery, at 26755 Verdugo St., across from the Regency Theater. Plans initially call for three 600 liter stainless steel tanks and several small batch production tanks. The facility will also house a tasting bar, lounge, kitchen and patio.

2. Sing with me, “Rocket Ma-a—a-an”: Ever get the urge to strap rockets onto your feet and blast off from Dana Point Harbor? Well, now you can.

3. There is such a thing as a free lunch: Free and reduced-price meals are offered by the Capistrano Unified School District to needy students under the federal government’s 2013-2014 National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs.

Federal regulations require that the school district provide an application form with federal and state approved eligibility standards to all households with children enrolled in Capo. Applications are also available at district schools, the district’s Food and Nutrition department and online. To apply, an application for each household must be completed and returned to the student’s school, the Food Service department or online.  The household size and income criteria will be used to determine eligibility of meal benefits.
