No. 16: The House of a 'King'
The Egan House dates back 128 years. It's named after, dubbed the "King of San Juan Capistrano" by actress Helena Modjeska, who somewhat ruled the town as judge, mayor and head hauncho.
We have known the brick house on Camino Capistrano in its modern forms as a galleria, a restaurant and boutique. It sits empty now, but it has seen plenty of action from social events such as balls to legal activities of the town’s early days before official cityhood.

We love this house for its “huff and puff” nature—nothing seems to blow it down. Even after a fire in the late 1800s, it was rebuilt. We wait to see what new life the Egan House will take on next.
