PHOTOS: First Homes at Rancho Mission Viejo Go up

Fast progress is being made. Homes are expected to go on the market this summer.

The frames of the first homes at Sendero, the first village of Rancho Mission Viejo, went up this week.

Workers have been busy for months on the roads, infrastructure and clubhouses. But the first of the homes started coming to life only this week.

Rancho Mission Viejo’s senior vice president, Dan Kelly, gave Patch access to the ranch, both the sites now under construction near the intersection of Antonio Parkway and Ortega Highway and the areas not yet developed – and areas never to be developed.

Sendero will feature a gated community for those 55 years and older, called Gavilan. The seniors will have their own clubhouse, called the Hacienda, but they can also take advantage of the other community features for all ages, which are close by in an area called El Prado.

On the other side of Antonio Parkway is a smaller, townhome community called the Outpost. The gutters and street lights are in, and the clubhouse, called The Outpost, is going up.

Model homes for viewing are expected to be open to the public by summer.
