DUI Checkpoint Planned for San Juan Capistrano Friday

A long push to catch drunk drivers into the Labor Day weekend starts tomorrow in our town.

Weeks of August-into-Labor-Day-weekend drunk-driving enforcement begin Friday in San Juan Capistrano with a DUI checkpoint, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department announced.

The checkpoint will not only check for inebriated drivers but also those driving without a license, according to a press release.

Statistical data on the number of DUI arrests and DUI fatal crashes will be released throughout the holiday campaign.

Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
