Allevato Recall Notice Filed with the City

The city clerk's office now has a copy of a group's intent to remove Sam Allevato from the San Juan Capistrano City Council.

Recall proponents who want to kick Sam Allevato off the San Juan Capistrano City Council filed their “notice of intent” with the city clerk’s office Monday, a city spokeswoman said.

Allevato now has seven days in which to respond, said Cathy Salcedo, executive services manager for the city.

Allevato could not be reached for comment.

The group behind the recall attempt is called Residents for Honest Government, but there are no names listed at its website.

While Clint Worthington was the one who publicly handed over the notice of intent last week at the City Council meeting, a phone number on the document appears to belong to John and Harriett Perry, who have also signed it.
