JSerra Names Servite's Lawn Its New Athletic Director

Baseball coach of the Friars since 2007, Dave Lawn will take over as AD for Jim Hartigan, who will focus his attention on the Lions' football program. Lawn will also serve as associate baseball coach.

JSerra Catholic High School has hired Dave Lawn, Servite High's baseball coach for the past four seasons, as its new athletic director, the San Juan Capistrano school announced Wednesday.

Lawn, who has served as a pitching coach at USC and California, will also work with coach Brett Kay's Lions baseball program as an associate coach. Lawn replaces Jim Hartigan, who decided to to devote his full-time focus to JSerra's football team.

“We are delighted that Lawn has accepted the challenge to take our athletics program to a whole new level of success and achievement,” said Frank Talarico, JSerra’s President and CEO in a prepared release. “In just a few short years, our soccer, baseball, track, lacrosse and cross-country teams are already lining our gym with banners. Dave’s leadership will only serve to enhance the quality experience our scholar-athletes enjoy.”

Lawn, who helped run Servite’s heralded student leadership program and served as the Anaheim high school's “senior formation director,” said in the same release, “This is a unique opportunity to take an athletic department with 22 sports in arguably the best high school conference in America to new, higher levels. But as we strive for excellence on the field, JSerra will not lose sight of its commitment to develop the ‘whole’ scholar-athlete.”
