No. 14: Trains for Traveling
train cars outfitted with conductors, cafes and sleeping cabins appeal to the romantic in us. Yes, Amtrak still can be used to commute to work like its cousin Metrolink, but Amtrak’s true calling takes us to faraway places.
The town is served by one of Amtrak’s most popular routes. The Pacific Surfliner travels between San Diego and Los Angeles and between Santa Barbara and San Diego. This “corridor” has a ridership of more than 1 million.
Even if you aren’t going anywhere, you can watch the trains come and go from patio or inside by the big windows.
We love that San Juan Capistrano has a train station available to help us book an adventure or daydream from a restaurant.
