End of Patch?

So, Just on the National news...does it mean the end to the Patch here too?

Hi Becki, Our CEO has announced that he will shut down up to 400 Patches this week. We don't know which ones yet. Thank you for your concern! Whatever happens, it's been a good ride for me and I hope you found valuable news and information here.

Oh no. This truly would leave a giant void in local news coverage. I hope that you are spared. Penny, you're an excellent reporter. Thank you for your excellent coverage of local issues, particularly on CUSD, for the past few years.

Thanks concerned parent. A lot of people are having fun with it, like a spectator sport. These are real people with real families and we are your neighbors. Should you no longer be able to find me here, you'll still see me around town, at Costco and my kids' schools. :-)

I'm very sorry to hear this news, Penny. You and the other South OC Patch editors do a great job. Good luck.

Penny, I'm sorry to read this. I did hear Capistrano Common Sense is hiring.

I'm truly sorry people are having that reaction. Yeparoo, I've got to say I thought your comment/link was insensitive and disrespectful. I sometimes wondered when Penny found time to do anything other than work because she seemed to be everywhere, at all times. I do hope this Patch will survive, and if not, I hope, Penny, that you'll find a place at the Register, if that interests you. The improvements and expansion in coverage since the new owners took over have been impressive.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you Penny. I am so sorry to hear this. I think that you have done a great job and hope that they do not close our San Juan site. You have done a great job Penny !

OK, so this is the 1st time in 20 years of living here that I have been able to see local news. I had no idea what is going on around me before the patch! I love this website & feel connected to the community & important & just entertaining news. Before the Patch, it seemed like Orange County as a whole didn't even exist on the 5 o'clock news. What can we do to save our patch? Surely it can't cost that much for a web page? Let us know how we can help save San Juan Capo & other local Patch's please Penny!

The most informative source of CUSD news might be in danger of being shut down and someone mustered enough class to channel his inner Trump? I hope they consider merging a couple of these sites instead of just axing them. They expanded way too fast and are threatening closures way too early. Unfortunately, the private sector boardrooms are not immune from such Common Sense (TM) reasoning any more than governments. I won't wish good luck, because I suspect that you will be around on Patch for a long time for me to razz you. St. Louis, on the other hand may not.

Awww, thanks guys!

This would be a huge loss to our community. I read the Patch daily to see what is going on around our town in order to support local businesses and community events. I personally know of no other source for this information. I sincerely hope that the Patch, Penny and anyone else working on this remain intact.

Penny, Patch has been a great source for local issues and concerns. It will be a loss to our community not having this forum to communicate. It gave us the feeling that we could make a difference, by voicing our concerns, listening to others and coming together. Good luck Penny.
