Why go: This event, perfect for families, will feature two master storytellers: Cynthia Callard and Victoria Burnett. Callard is the senior art instructor at Bowers Kidseum, and Burnett brilliantly incorporates song into her stories.

Where/When: Caspers Wilderness Park, 33401 Ortega Hwy.; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday
Why go: There will be wildlife-inspired trivia quizzes and potato sack races, Acjachemem descendant Jacque Tahuka Nunez will perform theatrical storytelling and REI representatives will show novices how to build a proper campsite.

Why go: Uncover some good bargains at a garage sale hosted by the Ark of San Juan Companion Animal Rescue. Proceeds will go toward food, medical care and boarding for homeless and abandoned animals.
