Get Out: Parade Day and Other Weekend Fun

The best of the weekend in San Juan.

This is the week of the Swallows' Day Parade, making this a very festive week in San Juan Capistrano! There's also a number of options that abound for your weekend, so get out and enjoy. 


Where/When: Salt Creek Beach, 33333 S. Pacific Coast Hwy., Dana Point; 5:30 p.m. Thursday
Why go: Get a taste of dishes and wines from 27 different area restaurants, all in the same place for one evening. Also, benefits the Dana Hills High School Grad Nite.
Pricing: $20 in advance, $25 at the door


Where/When: , 26762 Verdugo St., 6 p.m. Thursday
Why go: The evening features the original version of True Grit, the classic Western star’s favorite foods for sale, as well as Western art featuring his likeness.

Where/When: Downtown San Juan Capistrano; 9 a.m. Friday
Why go: It’s the best chance to wear your western garb and get put in “jail” by the Fiesta Association’s “sheriff.” Proceeds raised from “bail” money helps defray the cost of the Swallows' Day Parade.
Pricing: Cost to attend is free; bail varies

Where/When: Downtown San Juan Capistrano; 11 a.m. Saturday
Why go: Celebrate the end of the Fiesta de las Golondrinas and see the entire town come out in full regalia (rain or shine).
