Patch Picks: Celebrate Earth Day in San Juan

Celebrate Earth Day at the Ecology Center, Tree of Life Nursery or at an exhibition later next week.

This Saturday is Earth Day, a day to learn how to protect the environment and appreciate all that nature has to offer.

Here are our suggestions on ways to celebrate Earth Day in San Juan Capistrano.

If you're interested in some eco-education, head over to on Saturday. Workshops include kite-making, seed balls and herb gardens. Browse the offerings at a plant sale, or shop for worm bins, gray-water kits and more. The center will also host the Chomp Chomp Nation food truck. The Ecology Center will open at 10:30 a.m., with the food truck scheduled to arrive at 11:30 a.m. and the workshops beginning at 1 p.m.

The is using Earth Day to kick off its celebration of . It will debut a new butterfly garden and host a talk on butterfly gardening by butterfly expert Bob Allen. The celebration begins at 9 a.m. Saturday.

EARTH DAY FAIR

On Thursday at the , the city will host its 10th annual Earth Day Fair, where there will be a variety of exhibitors sharing tips and resources on ways to protect and improve our environment. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
