Patch Picks: Taco Time!

Whether you're looking for a traditional or modern spin on the staple of Mexican cuisine, we've got you covered.

The mention of the $2 tacos in our post naming the got us thinking about tacos—and we haven't been able to stop. While it was an easy task sampling the stuffed tortillas, it was too tough of a choice to decide just one winner. So, here are our picks of the best tacos in town:

Best Way to Start Your Day

Eating a breakfast taco from is a great way to start your day. You have your choice of toppings, but we highly recommend the egg, bacon and potato taco. While you're there, you can pick up some pastries from the restaurant's bakery or simply enjoy the tremendous smells that emanate from it.

Best Reason to Bring a Bib to Lunch

The chicken mole taco at is as delicious as it is messy. The restaurant's take on the classic sauce is rich and satisfying, complemented nicely by the earthy sweetness of the corn tortillas and red rice. Be ready to use a lot of napkins, because the generous portion of mole tends to overflow from the tortillas, landing on your clothes if you're not careful.

Best Twist on a Classic

If you're ready to challenge your notion of what makes a great fish taco, grab a seat at patio. Here, something akin to a fish stick is smothered in a creamy, Cajun sauce and covered in lettuce, pico de gallo and cheddar cheese, and enveloped in two corn tortillas.

Best Bang for Your Buck

It seems crazy to include a fast food place in the list of best tacos in a town filled with Mexican restaurants, but the tacos at would likely make this list even without their incredibly low price of two for 99¢. The deep-fried delights somehow manage to be simultaneously soggy and crunchy. The spicy ground beef is topped with a slice of American cheese and shredded iceberg lettuce. They're guilty pleasures that can be even be enjoyed by gourmet (although, it might have to be after a night of drinking).
