Shutterbugs Capture 'Hippie Kidz'

Patch freelancer Judith Anderson mentored San Juan Hills High School sisters and burgeoning photographers Gladys and Sindy Garcia on Saturday.

Senior Sindy, 17, had already taken one year of digital photography courses and was interested in expanding her new artistic passion. Sophomore Gladys, 15, said she was surprised by how much fun it was to learn photography skills by shadowing Eric Ibarra of the Las Fotos Project, which seeks to empower Latina youths through photography.

Anderson guided both girls behind a mini studio set up at the . She showed them the art of studio lighting and composition and how to capture expressions or stylized faces.
