Ortega Bridge Shrinks to 4 Lanes Saturday
Motorists will spend the next year with just two lanes in each direction over the 5 Freeway.
The big squeeze is at hand.
Starting Saturday at 10 p.m., the Ortega Highway bridge over the 5 Freeway will shrivel to two lanes in each direction in preparation for demolition on the south half of the bridge, according to Caltrans.
This configuration will last for roughly one year as crews demolish and reconstruct the south half of the bridge. Click here for more information.
During this time, trucks and trailers more than 40 feet long will be unable to exit the south 5 off-ramp and turn left onto east Ortega Highway. Click here to view alternate routes for trucks more than 40 feet long.
