Emergency Repair Work Complete on Ortega Highway

Weeks of road closures are lifted on a short stretch of Ortega Highway now that a collapsed embankment is fully repaired, CalTrans announced Monday.

The $950,000-project began following heavy rains earlier this spring that loosened mud, crumbling a 120-foot soldier beam wall near mile marker 4 on the mountainous Orange-Riverside county connector route.

One lane was closed in each direction daily with both north and southbound lanes closed overnight since March 24 between San Juan Capistrano and the Candy Store in Riverside County.
