Dealership Hopes to Raise Money to Help a Woman Breathe Easier

The daughter of a long time sales manager at Capistrano VW is now waiting for two new lungs.

Dealership owner Miles Brandon says Caleigh Haber, 23, has been in the Capo VW family practically all her life, being the daughter of his longtime used car manager, Harry Haber.

But although Brandon knew Caleigh was dealing with cystic fibrosis, he didn’t realize how bad it was until he read local media reports in December.

“Harry's pretty quiet about things and even though I knew of the ongoing struggles Caleigh and her family has endured with CF, I wasn't aware of the beautiful documentation Caleigh is doing of her battle on her new site (fight2beathe.org),” Brandon said.

A Rancho Santa Margarita native and Santa Margarita Catholic High School graduate, Caleigh has been approved for a two-lung transplant and is now waiting patiently, chronically her journey through photographs through which her strong spirit is evident.

“I have my hard days, but mostly I live positively, doing all the things I love to do,” she writes on her photo blog.

Brandon was so moved, he’s holding a fundraiser for her Tuesday at Capo VW. An Italian lunch, catered by Massari Foods, will be served up for free in hopes that people will be moved to donate to help Caleigh. Capo VW be matching any donations.

“We will have some fun and send some love up Caleigh's way, who is in the Bay Area,” Brandon said in an email to employees.

The public is also invited. The event is at noon Tuesday in the showroom, 32922 Valle Road, San Juan Capistrano.
