PHOTOS: Toys Take over JSerra's Front Office

Until the U.S. Marines stationed at the Twentynine Palms base hauled them away.

Members of the Twentynine Palms Marine Corp needed a really big truck to haul off all the toys JSerra Catholic High School students and families donated Friday.

Toys were everywhere. Teddy Bears, basketballs, games and dolls took over entire offices, crowded out work on desks and spilled onto the floors.

Opened in 2003, JSerra has been running this toy drive – the brainchild of Director of Admissions Andy Sulick – since the early days, but this year is the biggest, said volunteer Mary Victoria Taylor.

With 1,135 students on campus, the goal was two presents each. But students and families brought in more than 3,500 gifts, Taylor said.

After the seven Marines loaded up the truck to the brim, they enjoyed lunch at the Bistro, the school’s cafeteria.
