Pin holes in copper plumbing? Could it be the water????

Ever have a leak in your water pipes? If it is a small pinhole in copper plumbing it may be due to the water in our pipes. This is a new study that is being done here in our South Orange County Water Districts wherein several lawsuits have been initiated to get the Water Companies to disclose more on the treatment in the water done in Yorba Linda holding tanks that are delivered to the South County and the amount of or lack of chemicals in the water that are absent and not allowing for the bacteria to leave the water and causing a build up in pipes in certain areas that eventually lead to pin hole water leaks.

Extremely difficult and not proven per say however several builders who have been sued over faulty pipes are blaming the water and its lack of purity. The group that I heard this pitch from was indeed hired by a builder SS Homes that is trying to prove the correlation, it’s in the water they say.
Meg Waters of The Waters & Company out of the Dana Point area was hired by Shapell Homes, dba SS Homes, which filed a $5 million dollar law suit against Moulton Niguel Water District Nov 2, 2011, the claim sites the concentration of leaks is due to the treatment of the water supplied to the homes in Laguna Niguel by MNWD. Their expert, Dr. Marc Edwards of Virginia Tech study states that water districts can adjust their treatment of the water to reduce this condition. With proper disinfection, excess bacteria levels should not be found in copper pipes.
Several other lawsuits have been filed by several builders in Ladera who also are having claims for faulty pinholes in copper pipes.
We will await an outcome on this very controversial subject... In the meantime the statement, Just Don't Drink the Water seems not to be so far fetched!
