ERIC CANTOR, TEA PARTY AND WHAT COMES NEXT

Establishment Republicans just got a wake up call. Now what....

The establishment Republican Party woke up the other day to find they were out of touch with mainstream Republicans. The Tea Party followers woke up to find they were standing closer to the mainstream. Earlier this year I wrote an article welcoming the coming fight between the Tea Party and the Establishment Republicans. The loss by Eric Cantor was unexpected, but expresses the feelings of many, our party is out of touch with its base. Many of us are moving away from the National Republican Party, refusing to contribute and refusing to work for them. Those who know better than the rest of us stand a large risk of finding themselves without a base.

Two years ago running against John Campbell, I came to understand there were a great many people fed up with the establishment Republican Party. Somewhere along the line, the party moved away from a strong belief in the Constitution, States Rights and Individual freedoms. Small government, low taxes and minimal regulations have become viewed as radical thought processes. I lost the race and for some reason John Campbell did not seek reelection after that term. Maybe John came to understand he had drifted away from his base. If true, it supports my belief John Campbell is a good, honest person in a situation he did not like. We in the 45th Congressional District did not do a good job in seeking out a candidate to replace him. We will deal with that in the future. We will stand with the Republicans in the coming National Elections. We will continue to fight those who don’t share our beliefs in every coming primary. Many more who think limited government and generous individual rights are radical will find themselves working for Think Tanks and writing their memoirs. The battle for the Republican Party is not done.

So where to from here? We have a President and a Political Party which ruined the greatest health care system in the world, passing a law requiring them to outright lie about the contents. The President has changed that law without Congressional Approval 23 times according to some sources. The coal industry, which is the backbone of our energy system, is under attack by the same President and his party of Progressives. The President has refused to allow a pipeline which would help reduce our reliance on foreign oil. This refusal to approve the pipeline will adversely affect every American. Our Veterans are dying, due to a government medical system. This single payer health system portends everybody’s future health care with the government in control. Our foreign policy has seen the growth in power of those who would destroy us, and isolated those who called themselves friends of the United States. Our enemies are elated and our allies are scared and confused with our foreign policies. Kids are killing each other in our schools due to a system, which has down played the role of parents, and placed public education unions ahead of students. Guns are the tools, but the problem is kids with unidentified issues. I could go on for an hour, but most of you know and understand these problems. In this years’ primary election only 20% of citizens cared enough to vote. The other 80% are passengers, without input, until the General Election in November.

So what is next? Maybe George Bush was wrong and the Middle East is not ready for Democracy. Maybe Al Gore is right and there is Global Warming. However, we cannot have conversations with the current Establishment Politicians. On the Republican side, Tea Partiers and others see a Socialist Government and demand those who disregard our laws be held accountable. We demand the Republican elected representatives fulfill their role and push back against an out of control, growing government. On the Democratic side, you have also lost your party to a group raised on and having a strong belief in the principles of Sal Alinsky, The Cloward Piven Strategy and Socialism. The utopia they envision is wonderful but pales in comparison to Democracy. While we Republicans fight for our Country, you Democrats need to join us and take back your party. Nobody ever accused Truman or Kennedy of being Socialists or Progressives.

Retaking our political system can be accomplished with more citizens taking a couple years away from their chosen profession and running for public office. Getting involved in local government is a great starting point. Running for the State Legislature is an excellent way to understand the role government can play in growing an economy and protecting people’s right to live their lives without constant government intervention. Our schools do not belong to the Federal Government, they belong to the States and local communities. Run to take back the schools. Those who prove to be excellent stewards can proceed to Federal Elections. People who belong to a community, have businesses and professions to protect, and don’t consider Washington, D.C. to be Mecca will do a better job running the Country. Anybody making a lifelong career in Federal Politics should be continually evaluated as to their loyalties.

Eric Cantor is a warning, average citizens have had enough. This is a battle worth fighting. Talk to your neighbors, friends and anybody who will listen and let’s get the vote in the General Election to at least 50%. The best protection for our Country is a citizenry paying attention. It has taken 50 years to get here, we don’t have 50 more to take it back.
