Last Chance: Things you Gotta Do the Week of May 14

Monday, May 14 – Last day to submit nominations to become a member of the board for the San Juan Capistrano Friends of the Library, Inc. The Friends is a nonprofit dedicated to the support of the .

The nominating committee is currently seeking open nominations for new board members through a call for nominations for members-at-large. Nominations are open to the public; nominees must join The Friends ($10/year, due June 1.). Anyone interested in serving a one-year term on the SJC FOL Board of Directors, please call: Dixie Bullock at (949) 257-8699.

Formal nominations will close at noon on May 14. Those interested should send a short bio introducing yourself or your nominee, briefly explaining your background and why you (or your nominee) wish to serve on the Friends’ board.

The Friends’ board meets today, Monday. Nominations may also be taken from the floor at that time. Members-at-large and officers for the 2012 fiscal year will be duly elected for one-year terms at its annual meeting on June 16 by current (paid) members.

Membership in the Friends is $10/year; renewals are due on June 1. Regular meetings of the board are held 6:30–8 p.m. on the second Monday of the month from. Members-at-large are expected to attend and fully participate. They also participate in and contribute to special task forces, working groups, fundraising and other special events.

Our current goal is to raise enough money to move our bookstore to the front of the building to better serve our patrons.
