The Five-Finger Discount Doesn't Work

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Selected reports from the San Juan Capistrano police dispatch services log over the past few days.

The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher. The true nature of an incident often differs from what is initially reported. No presumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the information provided. 

At 11:30 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a suspicious person in the 26400 block of Paseo Pamela. The informant was reportedly upset about a group of 15 men who were drinking alcohol in the front of a garage with a large dog. There was no report of a citation. 

At 1:41 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a suspicious circumstance near the Verdugo Street-Camino Capistrano intersection. According to the report, a group of people were riding bicycles at the train depot and were causing problems.

At 11:36 a.m. Sunday, a caller reported a drunk driver in the 31500 block of Los Rios Street. The informant reportedly saw a large group of men drinking beer in a Dodge pickup and were throwing cans out the window. 

At 6:56 p.m. Saturday, a caller reported a suspicious vehicle near the Calle Arroyo-Avenida Siega intersection. The report stated that two people were riding a Yamaha dirt bike and a red Honda quad on the Mission Trail near the stables. The informant appeared to be upset because the horses were getting spooked.

At 6:31 p.m. Friday, a caller reported a petty theft in the 32400 block of Camino Capistrano. According to the report, a male minor was detained in the grocery store break room by an employee for stealing. The minor was reportedly being "semi-cooperative." 

At 3:47 p.m. Friday, deputies released a minor to his parent in the 25600 block of Camino Del Avion for a narcotics violation

At 3:46 p.m. Friday, a caller reported a petty theft in the 32100 block of Camino Capistrano. Two  minors were detained for stealing from . The minors were reportedly being cooperative. 

At 5:58 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a disturbance near the Paseo San Gabriel-Avenida De La Vista intersection. According to the report, five to six men were possibly smoking marijuana in a little park near Paseo San Gabriel.

At 10:13 p.m. Thursday, deputies arrested a 31-year-old-man near the La Zanja Street-Camino Capistrano intersection. The man was reportedly driving on a revoked license for a DUI and had a warrant out for his arrest. He was taken into custody and has since been released.
