'Hockey Mom' Convicted of Sex Assault

Kathia Maria Davis was found guilty of four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor on Thursday.

Kathia Davis, the 45-year-old known as the "hockey mom," has been convicted of sexually assaulting her son's then-16-year-old friend in her Laguna Niguel home, but jurors deadlocked on charges relating to another teen.

On Thursday, Davis was found guilty of four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Davis was acquitted of one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and the jury hung on four counts alleging she performed lewd acts with a then-13-year-old boy.

Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Walker alleged Davis provided alcohol to members of her son's hockey team and had sex with at least two of them between 2005 and 2010.

When contacted by Patch about the verdict, Walker said: "The People are very happy that [the] defendant was found guilty of the charges for John Doe No. 2 and taken into custody today. We look forward to the retrial in November to get justice for John Doe No. 1."

Authorities eventually were notified after the 16-year-old's mother revealed to Davis' ex-husband that her son admitted to having sexual liaisons with Davis.
