Update: Sheriff Releases Photos of Man Robbing Chase Bank
The thief handed a teller a note reading "bank robbery."
Updated at 10 a.m. May 4 with a more detailed description of the suspect.
A robber fled from a downtown bank Tuesday with an undisclosed amount of money after handing a note to a teller reading "bank robbery." He put the money in his toiletry bag, and fled out the south doors toward Del Obispo Street, sheriff's officials said.
The robbery occurred shortly before 6 p.m. at the Chase on Camino Capistrano.

The robber demanded cash without showing a weapon, and no one was injured, Orange County sheriff's Lt. Gary Strachan told City News Service.
Authorities don't know how far the robber ran. He was described as a white man in his 40s or 50s, 6 foot 1, and 170 to 180 pounds. He has sandy brown, unkempt shoulder length hair. He was wearing a black button-up work shirt, black pants and a black baseball hat.

The sheriff's department reported that the suspect may be homeless and may have sought refuge out of the immediate area or at a motel.
