San Juan Man a Suspect in Morning Attack

Orange County Sheriff's deputies have arrested  a San Juan Capistrano man they say is responsible for a minor assault against a woman Monday morning.

Juan Villapando, 56, was booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of assault and battery. According to Lt. Dan Dwyer, deputies took him into custody following a report from a woman who had said that about 9:15 a.m., a man walked up to her at the intersection of Del Obispo and Ortega Highway.

The man used profanity and then pushed her in the face, authorities said.

"Deputies did a patrol check of the area and arrested Villapando, who was positively identified by the victim," Dwyer said.

Disorderly Conduct

A man who interrupted church services with his allegedly disorderly conduct Monday at the Mission Basilica was issued a citation for reportedly yelling and being disruptive.
