SJC Man Pleads Guilty for Trying to Stop 'Plane Ride to Hell'

Bryan Ray Allen now faces 48 months in federal prison.

The San Juan Capistrano man who went a little berserk, insisting the pilots of a plane he was riding were “evil” then trying to break into the cockpit, faces a sentence of 48 months for his exploits, a Texas newspaper reports.

Bryan Ray Allen, 31, pleaded guilty today in a Midland, Texas federal court for interfering with a flight crew members and attendants, reported the Odessa American.

While he faces formal sentencing in October, Allen has already agreed to a 48-month prison sentence, according to the paper.

In May, Allen was traveling Southwest Airlines from Las Vegas to Dallas with a layover in Odessa when he tried to enter the cockpit, an earlier Odessa American story reported. He told police methamphetamine and alcohol had him convinced he was on a “plane ride to hell” and he had to get into the cockpit because the pilots were evil.

The paper reprinted a portion of the federal complaint, which said:

“He felt that there were evil demonic forces on the flight from Las Vegas to Midland. He thought God was speaking to him and he needed to get off the plane mid-flight or get into the cockpit because the pilots were evil. He said 'everyone in the cockpit was evil and it was a plane ride to hell.’”
