Callers Report a Stubborn Traffic Light Malfunction

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, a burglary in the clubhouse, a 17-year-old is sent to juvie, and a potential thief.

At 2:12 p.m. Thursday Nov. 7, someone reported a traffic hazard near the cross streets of Valle and San Juan Creek roads. The caller said the traffic lights were broken and staying on red. At 3:13 p.m., another caller reported the broken traffic lights at the same intersection. A maintenance crew arrived quickly to remedy the situation. However, at 12:07 p.m. Friday Nov. 8, yet another informant told deputies that the traffic light was malfunctioning again.

At 2:22 p.m. Thursday Nov. 7, deputies received a report of a burglary in the 32900 block of Paseo Del Amor. The caller claimed someone had burglarized the local clubhouse.

At 8:24 p.m. Thursday Nov. 7, someone reported a suspicious person near the cross streets of Ortega Highway and Rancho Viejo Road. The informant stated a young man was loitering behind a Starbucks. Deputies arrived and detained 17-year-old teen. They then transported the teen to juvenile hall.

At 9:35 a.m. Friday Nov. 8, a caller told deputies about a petty theft in the 32100 block of Camino Capistrano. The informant claimed the possible thief was wearing a gray jacket and black pants.

These are selected reports from the San Juan Capistrano Police Dispatch Services log throughout the past few days. The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher.
