Trial for Former JSerra Teacher Accused of Sex Crimes Postponed -- Again

Court dates for a jury trial have been pushed back almost a year. It was supposed to start this week.

The trial of former JSerrra Catholic High School teacher Ricardo Aldana, who stands accused of sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old girl, has been postponed yet again.

What was originally planned as a December 2012 jury trial has been pushed back time and time again. It was finally supposed to start Monday, but the trial was put off once again, this time until Nov. 4.

“It was at the request of defense and was granted over our objection,” said Roxi Fyad, a spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney’s office.

Aldana, a former Spanish teacher and soccer coach at JSerra, was arrested in December 2011 on suspicion of driving a student to his home in Dana Point, slipping her past unaware roommates and committing unlawful sex acts.

He is facing seven felony counts of lewd acts on a child. If convicted, Aldana faces seven years in prison.
