Undercover Deputies Arrest Suspect in Front of Mission Basilica

A 22-year-old man is accused of trespassing on railroad tracks.

Undercover Orange County sheriff's deputies patrolling the train tracks in San Juan Capistrano on Thursday evening were led on a short foot chase through downtown, reported.

Luis Galeana Reyes, 22, is accused of running away from the deputies after, they say, they spotted him walking on or near the tracks at 31051 Camino Capistrano.

Train tracks are private property, so walking, jogging or playing on or near them is considered trespassing and is illegal. The undercover deputies work in the Sheriff's Department's Orange County Transportation Authority division and were looking for people violating the trespassing laws.

After the deputies spotted him at about 5:30 p.m., authorities say, Reyes  ran across the tracks and across Camino Capistrano at Acjachema Street. A deputy caught up with him in front of the  and arrested him on suspicion of resisting arrest and walking on the train tracks on the train right-of-way.
