Ban for Sex Offenders Is on Tonight's Council Agenda

The San Juan Capistrano City Council meets at 6 p.m. in City Hall, 32400 Paseo Adelanto.

San Juan Capistrano may consider following suit with the county in banning convicted sex offenders from public parks.

Registered sex offenders are currently barred from public lands, including beaches, wildlife areas and parks, in unincorporated areas following an by the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Now the San Juan City Council will discuss a possible ban toward the end of what could be a lengthy meeting tonight. (The Rancho Santa Margarita City Council is also considering on sex offenders in city parks.)

Also on tonight's agenda: The San Juan Capistrano Council will consider approving a contested with builders; take the first steps toward changing the blueprints for Whispering Hills to incorporate a 100-unit ; and decide whether to spend $183,745 to extend city utilities onto the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park.
