I am a concerned parent with two sons that are currently students in the CUSD, one in traditional education path and one in language immersion program. The CUSD faces difficult times ahead, due to reduced funding from a depleted state budget. In addition, the quality of California’s education has declined over the last several years. What the students and parents of this district need are school board members committed to addressing these challenges; a board that will act with urgency to develop a comprehensive plan to significantly improve the quality of education in the district. I want to help the district do the following:

Raise the standards of education in all of our schools in the district despite budget cuts.

Ensuring our students are prepared for either higher education or the workforce when they graduate.

Establish one or more magnet high schools in the district.

Broaden language immersion programs to create more biliterate students.

Create unity between the school board, teachers, school administration, parents, students and the community.

Enlist our parents and community and business leaders to develop outside funding sources to help supplement what the state is reducing.

A community should be accountable for quality public school education.
