City Manager's Update: Sept. 2, 2011

a draft Environmental Impact Report is nearly complete. A report and presentation to the City Council is scheduled for Sept. 20. Afterward, staffers will file a notice of completion for the draft EIR, initiating the 45-day public review period. Once the notice of completion is posted, the various city council advisory boards and commissions will review the report.

The property owner met with staff and showed plans to move forward with renovation and enlargement of the existing restaurant.

GROUNDWATER RECOVERY PLANT: Between Aug. 1 and Aug. 23 the plant produced an average of 3.46 million gallons per day, or 10.62 acre feet per day. Staff has started the blending of the treated well water through the bypass line in the plant which adds to the plant’s total production.

In the past week, H-piles for the west abutment were installed, area for the abutment foundation was excavated and compacted, temporary sheet piles were installed for shoring, some shored area was excavated, area for the footing of the retaining wall along Paseo Adelanto (south of Del Obispo Street) was excavated and compacted, and re-bar was tied for the parapet wall of the bike trail on the east side of the channel.

SAN JUAN CREEK ROAD UTILITY LINES EXTENSION: This project extends existing Sewer, Water, and Recycled Water lines on San Juan Creek Road from Camino Chico to the East Open Space. The contractor, Paulus Engineering, Inc. completed the installation of the Recycled Water line Aug. 8. Work on the domestic water pipeline is nearing completion. Interference with a Kinder-Morgan fuel line required that the sewer portion of the project be redesigned. The new alignment has been designed and the contractor is still scheduled to begin sewer installation this week. The project is currently on schedule to be complete in early September.
