Tonight, OC deputies with the DUI task force will be targeting areas with high incidences of DUI crashes and/or arrests, according to the Sheriff's Department.
The deployments in San Clemente, Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano will start Friday at 8 p.m. and end at 4 a.m.
“Typically in December we see a rise in DUI collisions and arrests. We will be out looking for impaired drivers,” said Deputy Wayne Howard of the Sheriff’s Department Traffic Bureau.
“The public is reminded to drive sober or get pulled over,” Howard added.
The department is also planning extra DUI patrols throughout December.
Funding funding for the effort comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
