Light Agenda Tuesday: Tax Revenues, SDG&E

The San Juan Capistrano City Council will hear three presentations at its 6 p.m. meeting. They are about: an overview of the city's sales tax revenues, a new utility project and the 5 freeway and Ortega Highway interchange.

During what's bound to be a short meeting Tuesday night, the San Juan Capistrano City Council will hear the latest on the state of the city's sales tax revenues.

At last count, sales tax revenue was forecast to pick up this fiscal year with the addition of three on the south side of town, a new and a Still, San Juan Capistrano's finance department has recently projected a deficit in its budgets for the next 10 years.

This year's budget is based on projections that overall, general fund revenues will decline by $4 million. The hit is a result losing two onetime grants totaling $833,000, as well as a $3.2-million payment to with the Scalzo Family Trust.

Also at the meeting, there will be two other presentations. San Diego Gas and Electric officials will talk about a new project, and city staffers will review the the look of the proposed 5 freeway and Ortega Highway interchange project.

In closed session—not open to the public—the council will meet with its bargaining associations to discuss salaries and "fringe" benefits of City Hall employees.

Behind closed doors, the council will also meet with the city attorney to talk about San Juan Capistrano's "exposure to litigation" over an inverse condemnation and civil rights claim asserted by the owner of the Capistrano Terrace Mobile Home Park.
