Pedestrians Beware: Crossing the I-5 at Ortega Will Become More Tricky

Caltrans will be closing off foot traffic from the north side of the Ortega Highway bridge.

Pedestrian access on the north side of the Ortega Highway bridge over the I-5 Freeway will be restricted starting tomorrow morning, Friday, April 5, for approximately two weeks.

This closure is necessary as crews work to demolish the barrier rail and sidewalk on the north side of the bridge in order to prepare for the demolition of the south side of the bridge this summer.

Pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge until a new sidewalk is constructed in mid-April.

Please be advised that this work may be loud and disruptive due to demolition activities. For additional information, please call the Caltrans Helpline at (949) 724-2000.
