My husband, Jim, and I have three teenagers. After graduating with high honors form UC Davis I worked briefly for the State Health Department before going into medical sales. I ran my own executive search firm in Minneapolis, Minn. For six years before starting a family. I’ve been active with local issues including ridge-top restrictions, the CUSD recall and rate hikes. Currently I host an activist website at www.libertysoup.org where I blog and sell my handbook, “The User’s Guide to Freedom:” 50 fabulous ways to get more.

If elected I will work to: Eliminate progressive water and electric rates structures. Ensure the $30 million bond fund actually provides more recreational fields and parks. Establish a monthly “Paris in San Juan Flea Market” at the Ranch to pay for horse trail and open space maintenance.

I will also host an Its-My-Govt-Blog so voters can easily learn about and weigh in on public policy. Adopt a fast track approach to all city services by reducing paperwork. And, always work to preserve the unique cowboy spirit of our town.

Thank you for your vote,

Melissa Abbott-Kaffen
