What's Open, Closed on Memorial Day?

Forgot the potato salad or need to mail a letter last minute? Check out this list to see if you can do either on Memorial Day.

Unlike Christmas and New Year's Day, when just about everything closes up tight, most stores are open on Memorial Day.

So, if you forgot the hamburger buns you are in luck, but if you didn't mail your Visa payment, not so much.

All campuses will be closed on Monday, May 28, for observance of Memorial Day. School will resume on Tuesday, May 29, at 7:45 a.m.

Stock markets will be closed.

Some UPS stores will be open while others will be closed. UPS observes the Memorial Day holiday, so there will be no pick-ups or deliveries on May 28.

Buses, trains, and other public transportation will run, but some locations will be on holiday schedule.

Many private businesses observe Memorial Day with special hours of operation or close for the holiday while others do not.

Most shopping malls and shopping centers will be open normal hours. This includes the anchor stores typically found in malls: Sears, J.C. Penney, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, and Nordstrom. Several stores will be featuring Memorial Day sales with discounts, special promotions, and coupon deals.

Most supermarkets and grocery stores will be open regular hours: and .
