Cinco de Mayo en San Juan Elementary

READER SUBMISSION: Students and staff celebrate one day early with corn-on-the-cob-on-a-stick and a Mexican version of a snow cone, called a raspado.

A first-year celebration last year has now become a popular annual tradition at , when parents and teachers come together to serve Mexican treats for Cinco de Mayo.

On the menu were corn cobs on a stick, hot dogs with a Cinco de Mayo twist and raspados, a snow cone that comes in such exotic flavors as mango, coconut and tamarind. Proceeds went to support the San Juan Children’s Education Foundation.
