United Way Donates $30,000 to St. Margaret's College Prep Program

is reporting that its program to prep kids of low-income families to become first-generation college graduates was recently awarded a $30,000 three-year grant from United Way Orange County.

According to the school, Breakthrough San Juan Capistrano serves about 50 local middle school students and more than 60 high school students who are taught studying skills and are tutored in the summer and after school, among other benefits. 

In its sixth year, the program recently expanded its offerings to high school students.

On the Tartan Today blog, Diosa Adams, Breakthrough director, said: “Our program has grown significantly in the past year with the addition of our new high school program, that is so necessary ... With this grant, we will be looking to support the high school program and sustain the quality of our enlarged program.”
