Reader Submission: SVCS Beats Oxford Academy in Girls Volleybfall

Led by junior middle blocker Chelsea Duhs, who had six kills, three blocks and five aces, the Warriors improve to 7-0 on the season.

Saddleback Valley Christian's girls volleyball team defeated Oxford Academy, 25-16, 25-19, 25-17, in a nonleague match Friday night at SVCS.

Junior middle blocker Chelsea Duhs led a balanced Warriors' attack with six kills and three blocks. Junior Devan Carpentier and freshman Ashley Bonetto each had four kills, and junior MacKenzie Burns chipped in with three.

The Warriors served tough all night long. Duhs had five aces, and freshman setters Jamie O'Brien and Heidi Dyer each added three.  O'Brien and Dyer each had 10 assists.

Freshmen libero Sydnee Martin and outside hitter Jaelyn Greene led the way defensively with 11 and six digs, respctively.

The Warriors (7-0) next play Cantwell-Sacred Heart on Wedensday before opening up San Joaquin League play on Friday at home against defending league champion Connelly in a match that starts at 5 p.m.
