Two San Juan Baseball Teams Meet, CVCS Wins

It was local team versus local team in the Division 6 semifinals.

It was the world series of San Juan Capistrano Tuesday, vs. Upper School at the Sports Park, which serves as home field to both baseball teams.

It was a nail-biter, but in the end, the CVCS Eagles eked out a come-from-behind win in the Division 6 semifinals over the Tartans.

Chasing the lead for the first time this postseason, the Eagles (24-6) scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning for 6-5 victory over St. Margaret's.

The game could have easily ended with one last strike, according to the Capistrano Dispatch. The Eagles were down 5-3 in the seventh, one man was on base, but it was the proverbial 0-2 count with two outs already on the books.

Senior Jacen Carpenter connected for an RBI double, and a rally began that ended in victory.

The Eagles next play Desert Christian of Lancaster in the Division 6 championship game 4 p.m. Saturday at UC Riverside.
