U.S. Women's National Volleyball Training Team Comes to San Juan

The exhibition game versus Japan's Girls' Youth National Team is at 7 p.m. at St. Margaret's Episcopal High School.

The U.S. Women's National Volleyball Training Team will participate in a friendly exhibition match versus Japan's Girls' Youth National Team at 7 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, at.

The U.S. Women's National Volleyball Training Team practices locally in Anaheim at the American Sports Center. The team is currently hosting an eight-day training block for Japan's Girls' Youth National Team. 

The Japanese team arrived Feb. 25 and will leave on March 4. During that time, the team has trained several times at Sports Center, and will compete in two friendly exhibition matches against their host team. The second match is 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 2 at Concordia University in Irvine.

Admission is $5 per person and tickets are available to purchase at the door.

While the U.S. training squad has players from across the country, Julianne Piggot is from Newport Beach, and was a three-year letter winner at Corona Del Mar High School. The team is led by Assistant Coach Karch Kiraly from San Clemente.

Japan's Girls' Youth National team has qualified for the 2011 Federation International de Volleyball Girls' Youth World Championship, and has won several World Championships including 2009 versus China.
