OCTA Offers a Cheap Ride to the Fair

The fair wants you to leave your troubles behind. OCTA wants you to leave your car behind.

Looking for a cheap way to get to the Orange County Fair?

For only $2 each way, the Orange County Transportation Authority has set up weekend shuttle points across nine O.C. cities, including San Juan Capistrano.

Riders can catch the weekend bus service, called the “OC Fair Express,” at the Junipero Serra Park and Ride, just east of the I-5 at the Junipero Serra freeway exit.

In 2012, more than 46,000 fairgoers rode the Fair Express, according to an OCTA press release.

Service begins Friday and continues through Aug. 11. Buses will run hourly between approximately 2:30 p.m. and midnight on Fridays and between 9:30 a.m. and midnight on Saturdays and Sundays.

Riders will also receive a coupon valid for $3 admission to the fair –a savings of $8 off the regular ticket price.

The OC Fair Express is made possible in part by a $342,000 grant provided by the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee, which provides subsidies for cleaner transportation alternatives, according to an OCTA press release.
