What's Open on MLK Day, Plus Wine, Art, Cars and Water Tips

What's going on this week in San Juan Capistrano.

1. What’s open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Orange County offices will be closed on Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. Federal and state offices will also be closed, as will banks. The Capistrano Unified School District has the day off, as do most private schools. The workers building the bridge over the I-5 at Ortega Highway get the night off too.

2. A (net)working lunch: The San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce has its monthly lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ruby's Diner & Skyranch Patio & Saloon, 31871 Camino Capistrano (in the Franciscan Plaza).

3. Be water wise: With Governor Jerry Brown announcing a statewide drought emergency, it’s a good time to check your home water use. The Metropolitan Water District offers extensive tips online.
