An Author, an Architect and SJHHS' Most Important Football Game Ever

So many activities going on this weekend in San Juan Capistrano.

1. Are your children ready for the world? St. Margaret's Episcopal School is inviting another author to town to give a free lecture, 9-10 a.m. Friday in the Hulrbut Theater. This week’s topic is about improving our children's GIQ or global intelligence quotient.

As a globally-minded educator and author of Raising Global IQ: Preparing Our Students For A Shrinking Planet, Hobert addresses the challenges facing today's educators and parents in a rapidly shrinking and changing world.

2. Impossible to be hyperbolic here: Tonight’s San Juan Hills High home football game against Dana Hills is the biggest in the school’s history. Both have flawless records in Sea View League action. Tonight’s game, the last of the season, will determine which one is champion. If you can’t make it there, you can watch it on Cox.

3. In case you hadn’t heard … World-famous architect Michael Graves is in town. See here for all the details.

4. Now that you’ve celebrated the library: You can help support it by buying a book at the SJC Friends of the Library second Saturday book sale. The “huge” book sale (we’re pretty sure that means many books, and not just one super-duper large book) is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library’s bookstore parking lot behind the library.

5. Second Saturdays are busy: Of course, if it’s the second Saturday of the month, then it’s Art Fair day (for now at least). Downtown San Juan Capistrano from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

6. Do you have mad backyard skillz? The Ecology Center is hosting another backyard skills workshop, this one on home water systems design. From 1-3 p.m. Saturday, learn how to install and maintain efficient home water systems for your home. Cost is $10member/$15 not-yet-members + materials fee.

7. Music on tap:  Swallows Inn has Rob Staley Friday night, the Dalton Gang Saturday afternoon, the Hollywood Hillbillies Saturday night and Neil Morro Sunday afternoon.  Coach House has  Queensrÿche starring Geoff Tate Friday night and one of our faves from the ’80s, the English Beat, on Saturday.
