BLOG: Trisha Yearwood's Green Key Lime Cake?

Would you trust a cake recipe from Trisha Yearwood, mostly famous as a country singer? I was skeptical,

This is an easy blog to write because it is about a food item that I just love ... something truly delicious that I just discovered.

We see all kinds of recipes on the internet and some are great.

However, many formulas seem to be an ego trip of someone who is either a wannabe chef, or else is a renown chef who has forgotten how to cook everyday staples and comfort foods like our grandmothers used to prepare.

I mean basic staples like apple pies, rasberry turnovers, cinnamon rolls, hash, potato salad, fish stews, casseroles ... and cakes.

This is Americana food, the food we all love and sometimes wish that we didn't.

So when I saw this recipe by a famous singer, Trisha Yearwood, for a key lime CAKE, of all things, I became very suspicious, as I am of all celebs who turn to cooking.

One reason, however, that I might be inclined to trust Trisha is that she is married to the phenomenal country performer Garth Brooks, who, judging by his extra weight from time to time, is well served by Trisha's home cooking.

Could it be that this girl is "the real thing?" A celebrity who CAN actually cook? One with her own TV show? Producers aren't stupid. Hey, maybe she is good.

I followed Tricia's recipe and baked and frosted her key lime cake for our family's Mothers Day party for my mom who is a young 91. The family raved and raved and all took an extra piece. Even MOM!  (Thank you, Trisha!)

Well, you be the judge after you go bake this fantastic key lime CAKE yourself.

And yes, a Key Lime Cake IS green...Green is good.
